So how did we meet. Seems every wedding site has a place for this, so we will share some of the details... engagement story is on [ page 2 ] ...

Back in June 2000, we were both working late at a focus group in Encino, California. It was the type of place where we sat one the dark side of a two way mirror to watch people answer all sorts of questions they don't have much of an opinion on during a normal day. This time out it was all about the Fox brand - what was the consumer impression of Fox? (And were we really that interested at the end of a long day anyway??). We had not meet before that night.

Nina was there for News Corp, Chris was there for Fox Kids and Fox Family Networks. After chatting for a while, they realized they were both big Survivor fans (Season One!) and were lamenting the sad fact that Survivor was on that very evening - it was the episode where they were going to eat rats! How could we miss it?? It was terrible. But we both had to work late, so there wasn't much of a choice.

That is, until Nina told Chris she was taping it at home on her ReplayTV digital TV recorder. Not only did she like Survivor, but she had better technology at home than Chris did. It sounded promising. Both of us thought it would be plausible for Chris to borrow the tape and Nina asked Chris for his business card on his way out the door later that evening.

Nina emailed Chris shortly thereafter; we emailed back and forth a bit more and said we'd meet up for lunch someday. A couple of months later, in August, Chris came over to News Corp for a meeting and stopped by Nina's office to pick up the long-awaited tape. And Nina didn't recognize him! And she didn't have the tape. Chris thinks it was all a ruse, but Nina swears it was just misplaced.

So a few lunches later with a few nights out in Pasadena after that, it seemed that we would be seeing more of each other. In December of that year Nina invited Chris over to watch a movie (Chicken Run!) and she made him a bowl of Macaroni and Cheese. (Yes, it's true - Mac n Cheese).

But that cinched it - if Chris's mom won his dad over with her famous cherry pie, Nina got off easy with her famous Mac n Cheese. It's not that she didn't want to make a wonderful meal, but since everyone knows Chris is tough to cook for, she settled for the quick fix.

After that, they started to see more of each other, watched more movies and more Survivor together, while eating more Mac n Cheese. And, well, the rest is history, as they say. However, it took four years and a purchase of the house on Oxford Avenue for Chris to actually pop the question...
